Acting For Others

Acting for Others provides financial and emotional support to all theatre workers in times of need through the 14 member charities.


Black AIDS Institute

Black Empowerment is a core BAI value.  We source our capacity building, mobilization, policy, and advocacy efforts from Black leaders and communities across the country and provide high-quality direct HIV services and linkage to care to Black people.  We rely on the strength, struggle, and contributions of Black people to liberate systems that profit from and are passive regarding the presence of HIV in the Black community.  The BAI team represents the communities we serve.


Broadway Advocacy Coalition

The Broadway Advocacy Coalition builds the capacity of individuals, organizations, and communities to dismantle the systems that perpetuate racism through the power of storytelling and the leadership of people directly affected.  Founded in 2016 by members of the Broadway community as a direct response to the nation’s pandemic of racism and police brutality, it has since grown into a multi-disciplinary organization uniting artists with legal experts and comm unity leaders to have a lasting impact on policy issues including criminal justice reform, education equity, and immigration.


Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS

BC/EFA is one of the nation’s leading industry-based HIV/AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations.  We fund the social service work of The Actors Fund and award grants to AIDS service organizations nationwide.  With your help, what we do together makes a difference.


Black Lives Matter

#BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.


Black Theatre Coalition

To remove the “ILLUSION OF INCLUSION” in the American Theatre, by building a sustainable ethical roadmap that will increase employment opportunities for Black theatre professionals. Our vision is to reshape the working ecosystem for those who have been marginalized by systemically racist and biased ideology.


Black Trans Travel Fund

The Black Trans Travel Fund is a mutual-aid based organization committed to uplifting the narratives and supporting the livelihoods of Black trans women.  Launched in June of 2019, BTTF was developed for th purposed of providing Black Transgender women with the financial resources needed to be able to self-determine and access safer alternatives to travel, where women feel less likely to experience verbal harassment or physical harm. 


Equal Justice Initiative

The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to product basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.


Feeding America

Feeding America is the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization.


Girls for Gender Equity

Girls for Gender Equity (GGE) is an intergenerational organization committed to the physical, psychological, social, and economic development of girls and women.  Through education, organizing and physical fitness, GGE encourages communities to remove barriers and create opportunities for girls and women to live self-determined lives.


Student Leadership Network

In 1996, Student Leadership Network (SL Network) opened the United States’ first all-girls public school in 30 years – The Young Women’s Leadership School of East Harlem. What started out with one school has grown to a network of 41 public schools, including 21 all-girls schools nationwide. SL Network supports three life-changing programs that empower youth from underserved communities to disrupt the cycle of poverty through education: The Young Women's Leadership Schools (TYWLS), CollegeBound Initiative (CBI), and Young Women's Leadership Network (YWLN). Over the last 24 years, SL Network has supported more than 50,000 students to gain access to educational opportunities that help prepare them to lead successful lives.  


The Actors Fund

The Actors Fund fosters stability and resiliency, and provides a safety net for performing arts and entertainment professionals over their lifespan.


Theatre Artists Fund

The Theatre Artists Fund has been set up to provide emergency support for theatre workers and freelancers across the UK. It is for theatre professionals who are in need of urgent and critical financial support due to the devastating impact of Covid-19 on the theatre sector.


Transgender Law Center

Transgender Law Center changes law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression.

Transgender Law Center (TLC) is the largest national trans-led organization advocating for a world in which all people are free to define themselves and their futures.  Grounded in legal expertise and committed to racial justice, TLC employs a variety of community-driven strategies to keep transgender and gender nonconforming people alive, thriving, and fighting for liberation.


The Theatre Support Fund

‘The Theatre Support Fund’ and ’The Show Must Go On!’ campaigns were established very soon after it became clear the Theatre shutdown in the UK was going to go on much longer than anyone imagined.  We have been raising funds through sales of our ’The Show Must Go On!’ products which have been split between Acting for Others and ’The Fleabag Support Fund’ both of whom are providing financial assistance to freelancers in the Theatre Industry.
